Growth is imperative for every business, and it’s not always easy to make the transition from small business to big business. According to an article on Inc.com, research has it that barely 1% of companies will ever reach a level of $250 million in annual revenue. Further, only 0.036% will ever reach $1 billion in annual revenue. Growth is only possible when companies learn how to extract, analyze and manage huge volumes of information about customers, markets, the economy and other externalities.

“Customer Service is just a day in, day out, ongoing, never ending, unremitting, persevering, compassionate type of activity”, says Leon Gorman – the CEO of L.L.Bean. The cloud, however, makes it easier for businesses to apply effective best practices. A new Gartner report predicts that the Software as a service (SaaS) will represent at least 32% of the total revenue this year (2011). Currently, Gartner estimates that the SaaS market is at about $12.1 billion with potential to grow up to $21.3 billion by the end of 2015.
A recent IDC report states that the number of SMEs is expected to surge this year up to 33 % by the year end -- the phenomenon isn’t baseless; it’s driven by global business demands and the need to keep costs low.
